Saunton Sands is a fabulous beach, one of the best in the West country, more than 3 miles long facing due west with fantastic waves for surfers and yet offering great space for families to enjoy a day at the beach.
Together with the neighbouring beaches at Croyde and Woolacombe, Saunton Sands provides an opportunity to just sit and relax, enjoy a snack/meal at the beach cafe, go surfing, play with the kids in the rock pools, explore the sand dunes etc. There are surf schools and surf hire facilities on the beach. This is one of the most popular beach resorts in the area.
The Saunton Sands hotel, located virtually next door to Oceanpoint, is North Devon's premier 5 star hotel and many of the facilities including bar and restaurants are open to non residents

The walk around Baggy Point (from the National Trust car park at Croyde) is superb on a sunny day, not too strenuous and one can walk all the way to Puttsborough beach with wonderful views to Lundy Island and South Wales. The scenic Tarka Trail is accessed at Braunton and offers a safe cycle and footpath to Barnstaple. The Tarka cycle hire shop is located on the Chivenor estate just off the tarka trail

There are numerous golf courses nearby, none closer than the 36 holes at Saunton Golf Club, rated in the top 50 in the country (handicap cert required). The course snakes through the Braunton Burrows sand dunes with fine sea views from many holes. Other local courses open to visitors include Morthoe and Ilfracombe.
